SKYMAGIC are deeply honoured to have performed at the D-Day 80th Anniversary commemorations for the UK Ministry of Defence in collaboration with BBC Studios.

Working hand-in-hand with the BBC Studios team, we developed the concept that the collective memory of the audience was drawing historic moments through time into our present. Leaning to an ethereal visual language, the design of this poignant tribute echoed the final moments of loved ones, spitfires soaring, and battleships crossing the oceans 80 years ago to the day.

The heartfelt interviews with veterans, captured by the BBC Studios Events team, brought tears to eyes, whilst the exquisite audio design by Simon Haw MBE, enriched by his own military experience, added a deeply sensitive and sincere touch to the composition.

SKYMAGIC are truly grateful to have been asked to contribute to commemorating the bravery and sacrifices of those who took part in one of history’s most pivotal moments.
