The Story

SKYMAGIC delivered two bespoke drone performances for the Joy Awards in Riyadh, contributing to a world-class production featuring globally recognised artists.

The first performance centred on a key broadcast moment with Katy Perry. As she and her dancers moved along the Lavender Carpet, a 1,200-drone tiger took shape overhead, moving in dialogue with the choreography below. Achieving this required precise synchronisation between the live performers and the aerial sequence, ensuring it translated cleanly on camera for a global audience. The moment drove exceptional engagement, contributing to 3.8 billion viewers worldwide across the awards.

The second performance took place live during the ceremony, in front of Saudi dignitaries and an international guest list. Designed as a festival-scale spectacle, it combined custom pyrotechnics with complex drone formations, carefully timed for live broadcast. The result was a striking visual centrepiece for the evening.

Together, these performances reflect SKYMAGIC’s ability to deliver complex, creatively ambitious work at scale: built to resonate both in the room and far beyond it.
