The Story
For the third time, SKYMAGIC returned to the shores of Al Marjan Island to light up the Ras Al Khaimah’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. In a performance defined by scale and storytelling, we once again pushed the boundaries of aerial choreography, blending mythic imagery with world-record-breaking technology.
This year’s show took a different approach, focusing on high-impact, emotional, cinematic moments. We reimagined legends through two central figures: The Phoenix and The Guardian of the Bay.
The Phoenix, representing the spirit of RAK, is a titan of the sky with a massive 362m wingspan and 430m long from head to tail. Glowing in hues of dawn and molten gold, it soared 1200m across the bay, triggering 300 pyro-drones programmed in quick succession to create the illusion of a continuous flame.
The Guardian emerged from the depths of the bay and welcomed the crowd with outstretched arms. Utilising our signature pioneering laser drones, the Guardian projected beams of light into the audience, symbolising a shared energy and a peaceful transition into the new year.
As well as entertaining the RAK audience, the display made history when the Phoenix set a Guinness World Record, making it one of the most ambitious feats attempted. The eye-catching moments driven by our mythical figures culminated in the final countdown to midnight, which was seamlessly followed by Grucci fireworks.
