SKYMAGIC designed and delivered a bespoke drone show to form the centre piece of the opening ceremony at the Yokohama Stadium in Tokyo to celebrate the start of the Japanese baseball season.
The Outcome
We devised a choreographic sequence utilising 80 drones. Positioned outside the stadium, the fleet flew over and into the centre of the field of play before synching up with a cast of performers & baseball players against a backdrop of eye watering fireworks. Deployed in the round this innovative presentation of our performance drones offered a dazzling 360-degree perspective to an expectant audience.
We broke new ground with this being the world’s first drone show inside a stadium – one of the venues earmarked for forthcoming Tokyo Olympics in 2020. We worked diligently with the Japanese authorities to ensure comfort and understanding of our stable system, developing with them new regulations to allow for this type of swarm drone performance.
